Performing Violence

Home

Performing Violence is a strand of the Culture Theme, one of seven areas of interdisciplinary excellence at the University of Leeds. The project has been developed from the Memory, Trauma and Violence Research Cluster in the Faculty of Arts, and is led by Professor Max Silverman and Professor Griselda Pollock, in collaboration with Opera North. Performing Violence starts from the premise that the performative aspect to violence is an under-researched area of violence studies. The project seeks to correct this, investigating how violence is staged in order to understand how it might best be resisted.
