E.C. Stoner Blue Plaque

 

This Blue Plaque, which can be found on the Physics building of the University of Leeds (known as the E.C. Stoner Building), was unveiled on 18th March 1996 by Stoner’s widow. It commemorates Stoner’s appointment as the first Professor of Theoretical Physics at Leeds in 1939, and his distinguished research which covered the structure of atoms, white dwarfs in the far reaches of outer space, and the theory of ferromagnetic materials.
