At least one placement (and perhaps more) will be created to assist with a new research project (working with Melinda Whong and Diane Nelson) which aims to investigate the nature of grammatical/syntactic competence and how it interacts with other social and cognitive factors, including educational attainment and literacy, as well as socioeconomic status and general problem-solving abilities.
Applicants should have an interest in syntactic theory.
The RES students on this project will be expected to help with:
- preparing the experimental stimuli
- running the experiments (possibly collecting control data)
- data preparation (e.g. coding, entering in analysable form)
Places available: up to 2
Duration of project: 8-12 weeks
Hours per week: 2
Estimated start date: February 2014
Students who have questions about this project should contact Dr Diane Nelson on firstname.lastname@example.org
If you would like to work on this project, please complete an RES application form via the ‘How to apply’ tab. If your application is successful, the supervisor will be in touch in due course. Closing date for applications: 17th January 2014.
