The Research Experience Scheme (RES) is a competitive scheme for undergraduate Linguistics students, both single and joint honours, to assist with current research projects within the department. The main aim of the RES is to provide insight into the research process by working with staff on linguistic and departmental projects.
The scheme is an excellent opportunity to enhance a range of skills for the undergraduate degree programme, for example gaining experience with different experimental methodologies, literature review skills, planning and organisation. Certain students may be considering postgraduate study and can use the scheme for this purpose to assess motivation, interests and strengths within the discipline of linguistics. The scheme could also be used to develop interests and increase contact time with staff members.
The scheme has been accredited by the Higher Education Achievement Record scheme, by which successful completion of a RES project will result in a special mention on the student’s final Degree Transcript.
