Yorkshire and the Great War
This strand of research activity is examining the effects of the First World War on Leeds and Yorkshire more broadly. Leeds was not only involved in terms of its mobilised men, but equally as an industrial city that was a key factor in the material, equipment, uniforms and armaments that the war required. We are working in partnership with a number of research projects exploring different aspects of life in Leeds during the war, including Tetley brewery, Belgian refugees, the University in the war, POW camps in Yorkshire, and hospitals.
This is a film the AHRC made about one of our projects – Leeds Stories of the Great War. To find out more, follow the link to the left.
