Legacies of War project involvement: Overall project leader for the Legacies of War activity

Research interests
I am currently completing a monograph entitled Back to the Front: Women as Veterans in France and Britain, 1916-1933 . I am also writing articles this year on Belgian refugees in Yorkshire, on First World War nursing memoirs, and on tirailleurs senegalais. In addition, I am one of the Co-Directors of the AHRC Gateways to the First World War hub based at the University of Kent. Last year, I was Principle Investigator on two AHRC-funded projects: ‘Discovering First World War Heritage’ and ‘Leeds Stories of the Great War’ (see some of our findings under ‘Yorkshire and the Great War’). I am currently supervising three PhD students, two of whom are working on First World War topics, and would welcome enquiries from people interested in working on women and war, or on France and the First World War.
