David Morris, Archivist
After completing an undergraduate degree in Fine Art I began working as a Gallery Warden at the Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds. Initially this was to gain experience in the museum sector, but my focus shifted to archives. While at the museum I began volunteering in the museum’s archive and to add to my experience I undertook a cataloguing project with Doncaster Local Studies Library.
During this project I applied for many archive jobs and was eventually appointed as an archive assistant at the Wakefield branch of the West Yorkshire Archive Service. After completing my year long contract I went on to study for my Masters in Archives and Record Keeping at the University of Glasgow. I finished the teaching segment of the course in April 2012 and returned to WYAS as an Archivist at Wakefield.
