The overarching theme of the War and Resistance strand is ‘telling different war stories’ and the primary interest is in uncovering and presenting the stories of those who resisted the war in various ways. This will extend beyond explorations of pacifism and conscientious objectors, to those who resisted the war for political reasons, for example. War and Resistance will link with the areas of War and Medicine, through non-combatant personnel in the war, and to Culture and the Arts, through exploring war resistance in art.
This strand will be led by Ingrid Sharp.

I am coordinator of the British Association for Local History (BALH)working party on proposed activity relating to FWW centennial. We note Leeds Uni Legacy of War project as an interesting regional initative, and are considering how we might relate to it. One suggestion has been to arrange a visit to the Liddle Collection, and to promote its use as a resource for historical research by our members.
